Police advice for Milton Keynes F1 fans heading for Silverstone

Traffic, security and safety among the Grand Prix guidance this weekend.

Heading for Silverstone this weekend? Take time to consider your safety and security. That’s the advice to Milton Keynes Formula One fans planning to travel into Northamptonshire later this week.

The 2025 Formula 1 Qatar Airways British Grand Prix comes to the UK starting from Thursday for a four day event that more than 480,000 people are expected to attend.

As fans prepare for their Silverstone weekend, officers from neighbouring Northamptonshire Police are encouraging them take some simple steps to protect themselves and their possessions and to act responsibly throughout the event.

“The Formula 1 British Grand Prix is the biggest annual sporting event in the country, and our planning and preparation for the policing operation starts well in advance,” said Superintendent Pete Basham, the event commander.

“Whether you’re coming to the whole event or just for one day, we would ask you to check out our safety advice and crime prevention tips before setting off, to help everyone have a safe and crime-free visit.

“And when you get to the event, stay aware of your surroundings and if you see something that doesn’t feel right, trust your instinct and report it to us, or a member of the Silverstone team, straightaway. We would rather it be nothing than you have not told us at all.”

Advice includes following traffic instructions, securing your car, looking after belongings, taking care of your tent and personal safety.
