Play area on Milton Keynes estate officially reopens

    Grasmere Park MK Council

The play area has received an upgrade as part of the Lakes Estate regeneration programme.

This morning (12/3), at 11am, the Grasmere play area on the Lakes Estate officially reopened to the public.

With the sun shining across many parts of Milton Keynes, it has been the perfect day for families to visit and have a play on the new jungle-themed  equipment.

Cllr Emily Darlington and some other guests cut the ribbon and declared the play area open.

It is all part of the Lakes Estate regeneration programme.

On Wednesday 9th March, Milton Keynes Council announced that the pre-tender design work for Phase A of the Lake Estate regeneration project is nearly finished.

They said: "MK Council has been reviewing all the proposals to make sure the contractor can deliver the new homes as efficiently as possible.

"MK Council is now expecting to go out to tender during the second half of March through a two-staged process.  In the first stage, the Council will choose a preferred contractor through a competitive process. Once a contractor has been chosen, during the summer, the second stage will start.

This will involve the selected contractor producing a full set of proposals for the 202 new homes in Phase A, together with detailed costs.

"Once final costs have been approved by the Council in the autumn, it's expected that a contractor will be appointed and start on-site by the end of 2022."

The next meeting of the Lakes Estate Renewal Forum is on Thursday 17th March at 6.30pm in Spotlight.
