People over the age of 40 in Milton Keynes can visit 'drop-in' vaccination centre without needing an appointment

Saxon Court has been converted into a mass vaccination centre

There will be a 'drop-in' coronavirus vaccination centre for over 40s in Milton Keynes next week, meaning that eligible residents can simply walk in without an appointment.

For the first time in the area’s local vaccination programme, drop-in sessions are being offered at the Saxon Court Mass Vaccination Centre to make the most of available vaccine supplies.

The drop-in sessions will run on Tuesday 18th, Wednesday 19th, and Thursday 20th May from 08:30 to 12:30 each day.

Anyone who is 40 or over or eligible to be vaccinated for another reason should ideally bring their NHS number with them to their appointment.

Other forms of identification, such as a driving license, passport or utility bill, are also accepted.

Those people who already have a booked appointment at a vaccination centre, GP-led site or pharmacy should still attend their appointment as planned.

Dr Sarah Whiteman, Chair of Bedfordshire, Luton and Milton Keynes Clinical Commissioning Group, said: “We’ve given nearly 700,000 doses of vaccine across the area so far and we’re keen to make sure that no one gets left behind.

"We’re opening the doors at our large vaccine centres for walk-ins for a limited time, so you can just turn up and get your jab. If you haven’t got around to booking your vaccine appointment yet, this is the perfect opportunity to start to get protected.”
