Over five million pounds has been raised by Captain Tom Moore, 99, for the NHS so far

    Just yesterday, Captain Tom and his family were celebrating reaching the million-pound mark.

    Over a quarter of a million people have donated to the WW2 veteran's birthday challenge, with every penny going to NHS Charities Together.

    Tom is walking 100 lengths of his garden before 30th April - his 100th birthday. 

    Initially, the target was £1,000, but this was exceeded within 24 hours. Now, the total stands at over £5m, with it going up in the thousands by the minute.

    People from all over the world are supporting Captain Tom, with hundreds of people now creating birthday cards to send to him so he can open them on his special day.
