Opening of brand new roundabout in Milton Keynes delayed due to major cabling fault

The opening of the brand new roundabout on Groveway has now been delayed.

Milton Keynes City Council has delayed the opening of a brand new roundabout on a busy road due to a major cabling fault.

It was announced yesterday (22/12), that the road was set to reopen this afternoon following over 33 weeks of closures.

The brand new roundabout has been installed on the H9 Groveway, at the junction with Walton Drive to accommodate the new housing development site ‘Walton Manor’.

Work started back in May and has taken around 7 months to complete.

The roundabout, which was opening today, has now been delayed due to a major cabling fault. The cabling fault means that the streetlights do not work around the new roundabout.

The City Council said: "A major cabling fault affecting the power supply has been discovered by National Grid at this location that affects the streetlights around the new roundabout on the H9 Groveway.

"For safety reasons we cannot open the roundabout as planned this afternoon as there would be no lighting in this area. Instead, we'll keep the worksite area closed until National Grid can complete the repairs."
