Residents in these Milton Keynes postcodes issued with cold weather payments

Residents in several Milton Keynes postcodes have been issued with cold weather payments, as temperatures plummet this week.

Residents may receive the payment if they are getting Pension Credit, Income Support, income-based Jobseeker’s Allowance, income-related Employment and Support Allowance, Universal Credit, and support for Mortgage Interest.

The payment will be issued if the average temperature in Milton Keynes is recorded as, or forecast to be, zero degrees celsius or below over 7 consecutive days.

    The eligible postcodes are:

    MK1, MK10, MK11, MK12, MK13, MK14, MK15, MK16, MK19, MK43, MK46, MK6, MK9, NN7, NN8, NN9.

If you are eligible you do not need to contact anybody to receive the payment as the money will be paid directly into your account.

Those eligible for the payment will get £25 for each 7 day period of very cold weather.

The current forecast sees temperatures staying below zero until at least Sunday (14/2), after the recent snow storm that has passed through the country.

The Cold Weather Payment scheme runs until 31st March 2021.

These payments are different from the Winter Fuel Payments, whereby people born on or before 5 October 1954 could get between £100 and £300 to help pay heating bills.
