One month to go until The Bletchley Big Street Eat

Residents will be able to enjoy live music, al fresco dining and so much more in a huge celebration of culture.

Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council are bringing the carnival vibes this summer, along with local businesses and community groups.

In the Bletchley Big Street Eat, residents will be able to celebrate the diversity and culture of communities in the area. Free to attend, the event will take place on Saturday 30th July from 12pm – 8pm in Queensway and is set to be a huge celebration of art, culture, music, food and entertainment that everyone can fully immerse themselves in.

The event will include a main stage area, an introducing stage area, a pop up art gallery, street performers, community stalls and over 25 different types of cuisine on Queensway.

Working with local music promoters, the Bletchley Big Steet Eat will also host a really exciting and diverse line up performing throughout the day that includes Desi Dancers alongside a mechanical Elephant, a Mini Holi Festival of Colour, Chinese Fan Dancers as well as the presentation of the Town Council’s Pride of Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Community Awards.

Amongst the food stalls, there will be 7 restaurants participating and creating al fresco dining for the day.

Local Business Owner Eunice Arhin of Nana Aba’s has said “We are really excited to bring a slice of Africa to the streets of Queensway. This is a great way to engage with the community and celebrate our culture along with others.”

Greedy Italian Owner, Antonio Licciardi, was one of the first to sign up to the event and will be bringing a taste of Italy to Stanier Square with a pop-up restaurant. Antonio said: “This is a fantastic opportunity to showcase Italian Food on the High Street."

The Town Council is keen for people to find out more about cultures from across the world. Working with community groups, people will have the chance to bring stalls which not only provide information and promote their communities but can bring interactive educational value, such as learning a new language or a new skill.

Some of the great community groups attending the event include: Q Alliance, Caribbean Heritage Group and Girl Pack.

The Town Council’s Support Services Officer, Louise Salmon, who has organised this event said “This is a really exciting way to bring the High Street alive this summer. We are looking forward to bringing a family friendly event with a packed schedule of entertainment, music, and food. It is so important that we support local businesses and the wider community as well as bring events with a difference to Bletchley.”
