Officers explain why there was a heavy police presence in Bletchley last night

Residents reported seeing lots of police cars and hearing sirens in Bletchley last night (11/4), and officers have explained why.

At around 9:30pm last night, there was a "large presence" of police and fire vehicles on the V4 Watling Street, by Millward Drive in Bletchley.

This left residents concerned and confused as to what was happening, with many taking to social media to ask their neighbours what was going on.

Thames Valley Police has this morning offered an explanation, saying: "This was due to a male who was stopped by police but did not want to stick around so he ran off.

"As officers were chasing he decided to go for a swim in the canal."

The man in question is safe and well and is currently assisting police with their enquiries.
