Milton Keynes GP surgeries cancel appointments following cyber attack

A number of GP surgeries in Milton Keynes has cancelled all routine appointments today (Mon 15th May) following the UK wide NHS cyber attack.

Oakridge Park Medical Centre is one of those affected and says it will be dealing with "urgent medical issues only" and that patients may also experience delays in the issuing of repeat prescriptions.

The Practice at Broughton Gate have said they are "running a reduced service" today and are asking patients to contact them if they have an appointment.

Red House Surgery in Bletchley has also been affected, with the practice saying they are "doing their best to see patients who have pre-booked appointments".

NHS systems across the UK have been affected by the cyber attack, with Sky News reporting that NHS England hospital trusts were sent details of a security patch last month that would have prevented the malware attack.

More than 200,000 victims in about 150 countries were infected by the ransomware known as Wanna Decryptor, which encrypts files on a user's computer, blocking them from view and demanding a payment to release them.

Milton Keynes University Hospital is yet to comment but reports in other local media suggest it was unaffected by the incident.
