Nurses from Milton Keynes Hospital launch desperate fundraiser in support of colleague's son

A group of nurses from Milton Keynes Neo Natal Unit have come together to raise money to support a colleague during an unimaginably difficult time.

Lisa Duggan's 22-year-old son, Tiger, has been involved a horrific accident while in Thailand. While riding a motorbike, he was hit by an on-coming vehicle and has sustained life-threatening injuries.

A friend who was with Tiger had to watch for 16 minutes as attempts were made to resuscitate him.

"Lisa is not just a colleague to us, she is a compassionate, dedicated nurse and a deeply caring person who gives so much of herself to others every single day. Now, her family needs that same care and kindness returned to them," her colleagues said.

Tiger was transferred from Koh Phangan to Koh Samui, where he remains unconscious, fighting for his life. Lisa and her partner are currently in Thailand, facing every parent’s worst nightmare. Their plan is to transfer Tiger to Bangkok for further specialist care and, when possible, bring him home to the UK.

The emotional toll of this situation is overwhelming, but the financial burden is also immense, including medical treatment abroad, transfers between hospitals, flights, accommodation, and the long road ahead.

In a post, Lisa's colleagues wrote: 'This fundraiser has been set up to help ease that burden so Lisa and her family can focus entirely on being by Tiger’s side and supporting his recovery.

"Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for standing with Lisa, Tiger, and their family during this incredibly difficult time."

The GoFundMe total is currently sitting at more than £43,000, but faced with huge bills, any donation is appreciated during this nightmare time.

Tiger's parents, Lisa and Kieron have issued an emotional update from Thailand, saying: "The reality we are facing is heartbreaking and becoming more real by the hour. Expenses so far are over £6,000 for his stay in ICU in Koh Samui, and this is rising by the hour.

"We are now facing a further £20,000 just to transfer him safely to Bangkok. Beyond that, we are desperately trying to arrange to get him home. None of these figures include ongoing or future medical treatment, either here or once we reach another country.

"We have also just discovered that his insurance will not cover any of this due to a small clause we were completely unaware of. We are trying to process this devastating news while making urgent, life-saving decisions.

"Time is truly of the essence. Every hour matters. Every donation, every share, every kind word is helping us fight for him.

"To everyone sending private messages, you are an amazing lot, please know that I can see them all. I can’t reply to everyone right now, but every message is bringing us comfort and reminding us that we are not alone. That means more than you will ever know.

"The more I face this, the more real it becomes. Part of me wants to hide from it all, because if I don’t face it, it doesn’t feel real. My heart is beating beyond belief, and every single moment I am fighting this with everything I have for our Tiger.

"Please, if you can donate or share, it truly could make the difference for our son."
