An independent singer-songwriter from Milton Keynes is preparing to celebrate the release of a new single tomorrow.
Chloë Wilson, who was born in MK, is set to release ‘Broken Me’ on 11th July, the first single from an upcoming debut EP, launched later this year.
Written at just 16 years old the track captures the ache of unanswered questions and the quiet spiral of a first heartbreak, says Chloë, now 21.
“This song for me was like a letter that I never got to send, all these questions I had, and couldn’t find the answers to,” she said. Broken Me feels like my first real statement as a songwriter.”
Chloë’s musical journey began early. The self-proclaimed ‘70s pop princess born a few decades too late’ grew up surrounded by the sounds of Fleetwood Mac, Donna Summer and Led Zeppelin. She went from spending weekends busking in London to playing her way through northern venues; pubs, canal boats, anywhere that would have her.
“When I was younger, I would always try to describe what I was trying to say without actually saying it, creating characters to pretend like their feelings weren’t my own,” said Chloë.
“But with Broken Me, when I wrote it I was so desperate in a way with how I was feeling that I wanted it to come from me, and from the parts of my experience I typically wouldn’t vocalise.”
The single marks the start of a new chapter for Chloë and the first of several releases leading up to her debut EP, out in Ocotber. She is also appearing live in London on 19th July.
