New play area for Milton Keynes village

New play area opened for Haversham community.

The ribbon was cut on Haversham's shiny new playground this lunchtime – perfectly timed for the school holidays.

The original play equipment was installed in the 1960s when the Parish Council acquired the space. After a period of fundraising and grant applications, work began on the installation in June.

“We were keen to ensure that the new equipment was accessible, catered for a wider age range that the previous equipment had, that we met the asks from the community around swings and trampoline amongst others, and that the design was interesting and vibrant!” said Cllr Richard Pryor, Chair of Haversham-cum-Little Linford Parish Council, “As well as providing input at the research stage, some of the final design decisions were taken by the children of the community as part of the exhibition we had in March 2025.”

“The playground has always been a much loved and cherished asset and during the construction phase I have heard many tales from parents about how they used to play on it when they were younger and how they were excited for their own children or grandchildren about what was being built,” Cllr Pryor added, “Being located next door to the school makes it a much used after-school play area and it lets our children get outside, enjoy the fresh air and have some fun!

“We hope the new equipment enhances that experience and is there for many future generations of Haversham children.”
