Milton Keynes City Council will decide next week on appointing a new operator to run three leisure facilities in the new city.
The new contract will bring Bletchley Leisure Centre, Woughton Leisure Centre and Windmill Golf Centre under one modern agreement.
The contract will run for a decade, with the option to extend for a further five years, and will deliver modernised facilities, better accessibility, and more community-focused activities promoting health and wellbeing across the city.
“The new contract helps secure investment and ensures these cherished sites are around for a very long time,” said Councillor Mick Legg, Cabinet Member for Regulatory Services, “It will also strengthen engagement with local people, boost participation and place the centres at the heart of these communities, promoting health and wellbeing across all age groups.
Before the new contract begins, MKCC will fund the replacement of the car park lift at Bletchley Leisure Centre.
“As a Bletchley resident, I welcome this ongoing support for our local centres and look forward to investment in all three facilities that promote sport, health, and wellbeing,” he added, “These centres are a vital part of our communities and I’m glad we’re taking this step which will bring major investment to enhance and protect them.”
