Fashion enthusiast Tara wants design studio to be part of community fabric.
A Milton Keynes woman has turned a lifelong passion into a business by opening her first sewing and clothes design workshop.
Tara Clark, from Bletchley, used her 20 years’ experience in sewing and design to help her launch The Seamstress MK sewing studio last weekend.
And now she is inviting people across the Milton Keynes area to learn how to make, customise and repair their own clothing through a series of hands-on workshops.
Former Bletchley College textiles student Tara, 37, began honing her sewing skills two decades ago and has since built a career around her passion for fabric and design. Her new studio, at Furtho Manor Farm, offers facilities for others to learn and share in the craft.
“I wanted to create a space where people can try something new and take pride in what they make,” said Tara. “The workshops are designed to give people practical skills and the confidence to create something they’ll love for years to come.”
The Seamstress MK offers a range of workshops for all levels, including sewing your own festive pyjama bottoms, making a Christmas stocking, learning how to use a sewing machine, and making a smock dress.
By encouraging collaboration and conversation, Tara hopes to build a thriving sewing community in Milton Keynes, where both experienced makers and newcomers can feel part of something creative, social and uplifting.
