Believ supports Bletchley Town Council’s drive to install EV charging infrastructure without utilising public funds.
Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council has partnered with electric vehicle (EV) charge point operator (CPO) Believ to provide fully funded, accessible EV charging infrastructure at Newton Leys Pavillion.
The project, which does not require the use of public funds, will include the installation of a rapid charger, suitable for on-the-go top ups, and two fast chargers designed for long-stay or overnight charging. The charging points will comply with PAS 1899 standards to facilitate the development of an inclusive electric vehicle charging infrastructure. Believ will also install the passive infrastructure for additional chargers to be installed when demand increases.
The project was sparked by resident demand for faster and reliable EV charging in the area surrounding the Pavilion. With many homes in the Newton Leys area lacking off-street parking, the installation of more public chargers will improve the driving experience for existing EV drivers and give other residents the confidence to make the switch to driving electric.
As the EV market continues to grow, this partnership will ensure the Council stays ahead of demand through offering quality charging facilities for residents and visitors. In addition to its fully funded offering, Believ was chosen for its ability to install all charging speeds, which means the Council can be assured the right charging infrastructure is installed at the right location.
The project supports the Council’s strategic priorities to encourage low-emission travel as part of its ‘Cleaner and Greener’ initiative, which aims to enhance the local environment and create more attractive, sustainable neighbourhoods for people to live and work in.
Guy Bartlett, CEO at Believ, says “Believ is proud to be supporting Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council in building a reliable and accessible EV charging network to advance EV uptake in the area: “It’s promising that the Council are committed to serving the needs of residents and staying ahead of the curve in EV uptake and sustainable transport. Our fully funded option helps local authorities meet their climate and transport goals without the need for Government grants or the use of public funds.”
Ethaniel Kelly-Wilson, Town Councillor for Newton Leys and also Chair of Bletchley and Fenny Stratford Town Council highlighted how impressed the council was with Believ’s rollout strategy:
“Believ provided detailed plans that assured us of system reliability and its ability to install all speeds of charge point infrastructure is a useful benefit. I’m thankful to our local residents in Newton Leys who were a key part of suggesting Believ to us.
This installation is a key part of our commitment to sustainability and providing betterment to the local area. By increasing the accessible and reliable charging solutions available to residents, we are supporting those who have already adopted more sustainable travel options whilst also giving others the confidence to make the switch.”
Work on the project commenced at the end of July.
