A Milton Keynes community has received a new free-to-use ATM as part of a ATM network company's commitment to protecting access to cash across the UK.
Old Farm Park in Milton Keynes has received a new free-to-use ATM as part of LINK’s commitment to protecting access to cash across the UK. The installation of the new cash machine comes as a welcome addition to the community and follows a request from a local resident.
Prior to the new machine being installed, local residents in Browns Wood, Old Farm Park and Wavendon Gate highlighted that the nearest free to use ATM was located at Tesco in Walnut Tree. Not only was this more than one mile away, but it was on the other side of a busy dual carriageway and industrial area. This was proving difficult for people without a car and those reliant on cash. The local requestor also highlighted that further new housing planned nearby would mean even more people with a lack of access to cash services.
Following the request and a visit from LINK – a company that work in the public interest to connect reliable ATM network to major banks – a brand new free to use cash machine is now available at the Tesco Express in Old Farm Park.
More than 150 communities have benefited directly from LINK’s Community Request Scheme.
Nick Quin, Head of Financial Inclusion at LINK, said, “We know that more people are choosing to pay for things digitally or using contactless cards. However, we also know that millions still rely on cash and as we saw last month, when IT systems go down, cash always works. We’re really pleased to confirm there is a new machine open in Old Farm Park. Communities know their high streets better which is why we like to hear from people, just in case there are gaps that require additional services.”
Nick concluded with, “If any community believes it has an issue, it can contact LINK directly or they can check our Cash Locator app or website to see where they can withdraw cash for free.”
