975 people tested positive for COVID-19 in Milton Keynes yesterday (30/12) according to the latest data.
These figures come as the UK has seen another record rise of daily Covid cases, with 189,213 people testing positive in the UK.
The latest Milton Keynes figures take the total number of local cases to 55,608 since the start of the pandemic, 3,806 of which are from the past 7 days.
The 7-day case rate in Milton Keynes now stands at 1,408.6 cases per 100,000 people, slightly higher than the national average of 1,216 cases per 100,000 people.
The data does not tell us if any of these patients have the Omicron variant, results for variant testing can take up to 5 days. However, it was reported on Wednesday by Sky News that more than 90% of community coronavirus cases in England are now Omicron variant, according to the UKHSA.
As it is now by far the dominant variant, the UK Health Security Agency (UKHSA) said it would stop providing Omicron-specific daily updates from today (31 December.)
