NASA reveal when you can see the International Space Station from Milton Keynes next week

NASA have revealed exactly when will be the best times next week to see the International Space Station from Milton Keynes.

There's going to be some good opportunities next week to see the space station at a height of more than 40 degrees - which is the conditions when NASA say there will be the best chance for a sighting opportunity.

The ISS is the third brightest object in the sky and so is easy to spot if you know when to look up.

Visible to the naked eye, it looks like a fast-moving plane only much higher and traveling thousands of miles an hour faster!

But you will probably need to get out of bed fairly early to capture a glimpse!

The best time to view the space station will be on Friday September 4th at 5.17am, when it will be visible for five minutes from Milton Keynes at a maximum height of 85 degrees.

Your next best chance will be on Wednesday September 2nd at 5.15am, when it will be visible for four minutes from Milton Keynes at a maximum height of 77 degrees.

NASA say that the 'maximum height' in degrees represents the height of the space station from the horizon in the night sky.

They add: "The horizon is at zero degrees, and directly overhead is ninety degrees. If you hold your fist at arm’s length and place your fist resting on the horizon, the top will be about 10 degrees."
