MyMiltonKeynes CEO receives MBE from HRH Prince Charles for ‘Services to the Community’

On 8 February 2022, Melanie Beck was awarded her MBE by His Royal Highness Prince Charles, in a celebratory ceremony at Windsor Castle.

The award, which recognises Melanie’s contribution to the community during the UK’s most challenging period and throughout its response to the pandemic, is testament to the vital role the Business Improvement District (BID) plays in Milton Keynes.

The BID represents a fast and efficient way of creating significant improvements to the city centre, providing services that go above and beyond those of the local authority.

Successfully mandated by businesses in 2017, MyMiltonKeynes has provided £5 million of additional improvements to Central Milton Keynes so far, creating a safer, cleaner, better connected, smarter and more vibrant city centre for all. In December 2021, the BID proudly announced that 95.2% of businesses across the city centre had voted in favour of plans to renew MyMiltonKeynes, securing a further five years of business improvements.

Commenting on the honour of collecting her award, Melanie Beck MBE, says: “Being presented my MBE by Prince Charles was an incredible moment, and one that I will treasure forever. I am immensely proud to support and promote Milton Keynes and I am fortunate to work alongside a fantastic team and colleagues from across the city and beyond who share my love for our amazing city and all it has to offer.”
