MP for Milton Keynes North Chris Curtis praised Bellway’s Greenleys Gardens development in the city for its ‘strong focus on community facilities’ following a visit to the site last week.
The MP was given a tour of the development to see how construction work is progressing on the 110 homes and community pavilion which Bellway is delivering on the former site of Milton Keynes Rugby Club off Field Lane.
The new pavilion will include a large hall, meeting room, kitchen, toilets and storerooms, with a new grass sports pitch and 28-space car park. When complete, the building will be handed over to Milton Keynes City Council.
Construction work at Greenleys Gardens began in November 2024 and 40 of the 75 homes for private sale have now been handed over to their new owners. Building work on the new pavilion began in May.
“It was great to visit the development in Greenleys and see the real progress being made, with homes already completed and residents beginning to move in,” Chris said, "The strong focus on community facilities is a welcome step towards creating a thriving, sustainable neighbourhood.”
Bellway Northern Home Counties MD Paul Smits, who showed Chris around, added: “Greenleys Gardens is a significant development for Milton Keynes, not only because it is providing high quality, energy efficient homes for the area but because it is bringing with it a new leisure facility for the whole community to use."
“As a major employer in Milton Keynes with our divisional office in the city and a builder of homes across the region, we felt it was important to invite our local MP to see for himself how the construction of the development is progressing.
“We were very proud to show Chris around and explain our vision for the regeneration of this previously disused site into a thriving community.”
