Emily’s Star latest to benefit from business meeting event.
A charity that supports seriously ill children, babies, and young people in Milton Keynes is the latest charity to benefit from being the chosen charity of popular networking event, the Meet of MK.
The ‘small but mighty’ MK-based charity dedicated to supporting children and their families living with life-limiting or life-threatening conditions, was the featured charity at the latest networking gathering at MK Sports Bar on 29th January and was the grateful recipient of £576.51 raised during the evening.
The money is generated through a variety of features including a charity raffle and cash donations on the night. Charity prizes are donated by generous local businesses each month.
As well as bringing the city’s business community together for food, drink and discussion, the evening event gives even more back to the city and its people – especially charities – by raising awareness and funds for local good causes.
Each month’s chosen charity has a chance to present to the 200 or so delegates, outlining the work they do for the local community.
For the past 13 years, Emily’s Star has supported more than 10,000 families through practical assistance, emotional support, and strong community connections. Its work includes providing vital care and comfort from birth up to the age of 25, as well as emergency neonatal packs for premature babies, delivered to hospitals across the UK.
Emily’s Star is the only charity in the UK to offer the neonatal care packs through a fully postal system, allowing them to reach families in hospitals across the country.
MKFM introduced fund raising for local good causes last summer. Since then, attendees at the busy meetings have been asked to donate to the chosen charity of the month. And the business community has responded brilliantly, helping the popular radio station and news hub to raise more than £5,000 for charity partners.
MKFM’s ‘The Meet of MK’ gathers every month at an exciting Milton Keynes venue. This month’s event is on Thursday 26th February at Blossom Room, The Hub. For more details or to book tickets, visit: www.mkfm.com/events/mkfms-meet-of-mk.
