A 16-year-old boy from Milton Keynes has been sentenced to four months’ detention and made subject to a Criminal Behaviour Order (CBO) after he pleaded guilty to two offences at Milton Keynes Magistrates’ Court.
The boy, who cannot be named for legal reasons, of Oxley Park, Milton Keynes, admitted affray and possession of a bladed article in a hearing on Tuesday (4/9).
It follows an incident at McDonalds in the Westcroft District Centre, Milton Keynes, at around 3.30pm on Saturday 12 May involving a group of youths brandishing machetes and weapons.
After entering guilty pleas, he was given four months’ detention and a 12-month CBO.
The order, which was effective from 4 September 2018, prohibits the boy from acting in a manner that causes or is likely to cause harassment, alarm or distress, namely, threatening, intimidating, fighting, shouting, swearing and being verbally abusive to any other person in Milton Keyes.
It also prohibits him from entering the area of Westcroft, Milton Keynes.
At the same hearing, a 17-year-old boy from Buckfast Avenue, West Bletchley, was referred to the youth offending team for an intense 12-month custodial referral order after pleading guilty to the same charges.
Investigating officer PC Tom Hughes of the Neighbourhood Policing team at Bletchley police station, said: “I hope this delivers a message to the community that people offering intimidation and violence will not be tolerated and that we will deal with anyone carrying, using, or threatening people with a weapon will be dealt with robustly.
“I am urging anybody who has any concerns of similar such behaviour to report it online or via 101.”
