MK Gallery Young Dancer of the Year Live Final

MK Gallery’s Young Dancer 2019 live final was held on Saturday 27th April. The event attracted a huge audience and was supported by leading figures in dance.

In 2018, MK Gallery launched a search for Young Dancer of the Year. Open to all styles and abilities, for those between ages 7 -19, young dancers were asked to submit a video of their chosen dance to be shortlisted to perform for the live final in the MK Gallery Sky Room, which took place between 10am and 1pm on Saturday 27th April.

A sold-out auditorium saw dancers perform in front of a judging panel including Helen Parlor, Artistic Director at MÓTUS; Namron, OBE and pioneer of British contemporary dance; and Kerry Biggin, Resident Artist at dance company New Adventures.

The audience and the judges were incredibly impressed by all performances, with the eventual winner being announced as Chloe Canavan.

Tara Page, Learning Manager at MK Gallery said “The live final of MK Young Dancer was an amazing event and we were absolutely thrilled by the response to our search. Each dancer showed such creativity, passion and dedication in their performance - it was really inspiring. We’d like to say a huge thank you to MK Community Foundation, MÓTUS, Milton Keynes Theatre, New Adventures, the dancers, choreographers, teachers, and supporters who helped make the event something really special.”
