MK Dons sign young Chelsea striker

MK Dons confirm the loan-signing of Ike Ugbo from Chelsea FC for the rest of the season.

Ugbo spent the first half of this season with Championship side, Barnsley, making 18 appearances and scoring once. Having not made a start since the 28th November, Ugbo was recalled to his parent club on Wednesday 3rd January.

Robbie Neilson spoke to MKFM on Thursday morning saying he hoped to get Ugbo involved in Saturday’s game against QPR.

“It’s one that we’ve chased right through the summer, we hoped to get him it didn’t happen, we’ve now managed to secure that. I think it’ll be a massive boost for us.”

Neilson also hinted at making a second signing next week. “There’s another player we’re looking at, I don’t think it’ll be done for the weekend but hopefully we can get it the following week.”

Ugbo, speaking to mkdons.com said, "The players MK Dons have produced over the years like Dele Alli and Benik Afobe inspired me to come here. Hopefully I can do my best to help the team climb up the table."

MK Dons are currently in 19th position in League One, sitting just two points clear of the relegation zone.
