Williams wins the double at MK Dons Awards

Last night, Tuesday 2nd May, saw the annual MK Dons Player of the Year awards. Despite the disappointing season, there has been plenty to celebrate this year too.

The big winner of the night was George Williams, who won both Player of the Year, voted for by the fans, and Players’ Player of the Year, voted for by his fellow team mates.

Williams was released from MK Dons at 18 and after impressing in university football and then with Barnsley FC last year, he made his way back to MK. Not only has he impressed from the defence, he has also captained the team.

England midfielder, Dele Alli, made an appearance via video from the Tottenham Hotspur training ground to accept the Chairman’s Award. Alli came through the youth ranks at MK Dons before securing a move to Spurs two seasons ago.

Last night also gave the opportunity for Dons fans to give a final farewell to long-serving players such as David Martin, Darren Potter, Dean Bowditch and Daniel Powell before they all depart the club at the end of the season.
