Milton Keynes Council is set to further strengthen its partnerships with local town and parish councils, as they continue to work together to support communities during the pandemic.
Following several consultations and workshops with town and parish councils across the city, Milton Keynes Council will consider adopting a Together We Can approach, which sets out modern and co-operative ways of working together to achieve the "best outcomes" for local communities.
The document includes new ways of collaborating between parish, town, community and Milton Keynes Council to ensure a more joined-up approach in response to the challenges presented by the pandemic.
The new approach includes a route map to work more closely together, giving all councillors a stronger voice in supporting and improving our communities.
The importance of the work that community councils do came to light last week as a Handsworth Parish Council meeting went viral. Milton Keynes Council is committed to ensuring citizens continue to have a voice through local authorities who work well together.
A council decision to adopt the new approach is set for 23 February.
Milton Keynes Council was the first unitary authority in the country to be fully parished and has been recognised nationally for the way it works collaboratively with local organisations across Milton Keynes.
