YMCA Milton Keynes is proud to announce the launch of a brand-new youth club opening this September at The Hive Community Centre in Whitehouse – and we’re kicking things off with a special launch event on Friday 11th July from 5–7pm, open to young people aged 11-18, families, and local residents.
This exciting event will give the community a chance to explore what the new youth club has to offer, meet the youth team, and take part in fun, free activities in a safe and welcoming space. Whether you're a young person looking to make new friends or a parent keen to learn about the support available, everyone is welcome.
Youth work is needed now more than ever as funding for youth services has dropped by 81% in MK since 2010, leaving young people struggling to find the right support, options and opportunities to fully realise their potential. YMCA Milton Keynes are stepping up to fill this gap.
Dylan, Senior Youth Worker shared:
“A month ago, a boy came to one of our sessions for the first time. He sat by himself, scrolling on his phone. By the end, he was laughing with us over a silly board game. As he left, we heard him tell his mum, ‘It was so much fun!’ Now, he comes every week. Watching him grow in confidence and look forward to each session reminds me just how powerful youth work can be.”
In 2023/24 alone, YMCA MK supported 167 young people through its youth programmes. Based on the Human Givens approach, these clubs are designed to meet the emotional needs of young people positively — helping them to build confidence, social skills and resilience.
The addition of our Whitehouse location means YMCA will be running 8 youth clubs across Milton Keynes, open to young people aged 11 -18.
