Milton Keynes woman in Tomb Raider record bid

Amy wants world recognition for video games collection.

A Milton Keynes collector is aiming to claim the Guiness World Record for the largest compilation of Tomb Raider video games in the world.

Action title fan Amy Dyson, from Stantonbury, has already amassed 275 examples of the action franchise computer games, and is recognised as an international Tomb Raider community ambassador. She’s credited on the ‘Shadow of the Tomb Raider’ game released in 2018.

“The current record, set in 2017, is 215 games,” said retail worker Amy, 32. “And my collection is still growing. During the time I was an ambassador, I ran a dedicated website and social media pages showcasing my Tomb Raider collectibles.

Amy has been a fan of the game since the mid-90s when she was a teenager and became interested in the premise of a female hero. She says she was bullied as a child for loving the series when she was told: ‘girls don’t play video games, it’s really weird’. That gave her the drive to carry on collecting at university because she missed the nostalgic items that were becoming available.

“My overall Tomb Raider collection includes around 300 individual items, such as a giant 6 foot Lara Croft statue, clothing, signed posters, shop displays, and various other collectibles.

“But my world record attempt focuses on my collection of Tomb Raider games featuring different artworks and regions. This includes some games signed by Lara's original voice actresses and some of the original game developers.”

Now Amy plans to notify Guinness of her record achievement with a cover letter and two signed pieces of evidence, and set her name firmly in the record books.

“It’s a lifelong dream to partly work for Tomb Raider,” said Amy. So this is a massive goal in my life.”
