Milton Keynes woman creates rabbit treat business

Ieva Ulozaite created Fluffy Creature to not only sell rabbit treats but to educate owners and potential owners on the realities of owning a rabbit.

After working a carer for several years, Ieva decided during the pandemic to take a chance on a new business.

With success on Instagram with her account for her pet bunnies, she decided to create a business making rabbit treats to show people that they don't just eat carrots.

The main aim of her business is to educate those considering a rabbit on what they really need and want.

Ieva Ulozaite said: "Rabbits are so underestimated.

"They are loving, caring, but need attention and freedom, just like cats or dogs.

"Shops are selling small cages 'for rabbits' when the minimum space they need is 2m by 2m, according to the Rabbit Welfare Association."

The RSCPA and several other animal charities have seen a huge increase in people buying pets during the lockdown.

Some of these pets have since ended up in rescue centres after some owners didn't realise the responsibility of them.

Ieva is determined to use her business to ensure rabbits are receiving the right nutrition they need.

She said: "Rabbits are so sensitive to foods and it is very important to look after their nutrition and diet.

"There is so much cruelty going on the way people keep rabbits, it breaks my heart.

"I rescued one of my bunnies from a family that kept their rabbit in the hutch outdoors in the rain and snow.

"And now he is free roaming in my house, fully litter trained and happy."
