Milton Keynes University Hospital issues update amid high demand for services

Milton Keynes University Hospital has issued an update to patients and the public, following a significant surge in emergency admissions that has placed unprecedented pressure on its services.

Milton Keynes University Hospital (MKUH) is currently experiencing an exceptionally busy period, with demand for care reaching unusually high levels.

To cope with the increased number of patients, MKUH has expanded its capacity by opening additional ward space and escalation beds. Hospital staff are working tirelessly to ensure that safe and effective care continues to be provided to all patients during this challenging time.

MKUH said, "We continue to work hard to minimise any impact of these pressures on planned care, such as surgery and outpatients, especially for patients who require urgent surgery for cancer or other potentially life-limiting conditions."

Patients with scheduled appointments are encouraged to attend as planned unless they are contacted and informed otherwise by the hospital.

MKUH’s Emergency Department remains open 24/7 for those in need of urgent care. However, the hospital advises that during peak periods, patients may experience longer waiting times in the Emergency Department.

The hospital expresses its gratitude to the public for their understanding and continued support as staff work diligently to manage the situation and maintain high standards of care for all patients.
