City restaurant set to sizzle in Mayfair.
A popular Milton Keynes restaurant, which has big plans for a city re-opening, has in the meantime announced it’s set to make a London debut with a restaurant in swanky Mayfair.
Kobe Steakhouse restaurant had been a popular addition to MK’s Xscape centre but bosses closed that venue promising a new venture for the city.
The business, which was founded by the Marcu family in 2022, has acquired the former Lusin restaurant in west London’s Hay Hill and are pushing to get the site ready in time for the New Year.
“It’s full steam ahead,” said owner Razvan Marcu. “We are extremely excited about Mayfair. It will put us on the map big time, and will be the flagship of the Kobe brand.”
Kobe’s first-ever site was the Xscape destination. A second site followed earlier this year, in the former Middletons Steakhouse & Grill in Cambridge. Its new venture in MK will be confirmed in early 2026.
Michael Macpherson, of Hay Hill Property Services, which acted on the Mayfair deal, said: “Kobe Mayfair brings a unique proposition to London’s luxury dining scene.
“One of the very few restaurants in the UK officially registered with the Kobe Beef Association in Japan, Kobe offers something unmatched: certified, authentic Kobe beef alongside the widest selection of Kobe and wagyu cuts available anywhere in the country.”
