Milton Keynes school visits iconic Royal Opera House

Academy students watch ‘stunning’ ballet Giselle in London visit.

Seventy five students from the Lift Sir Herbert Leon academy visited the Royal Opera House this week, to watch a production of Giselle.

It was part of the  Bletchley school’s matinee ballet programme. Students across Years 7 to 10, aged 11 to 15, attended the afternoon production, experiencing the dancers interpretation of a love story on stage.

Giselle is a famous ballet story about love and forgiveness, with a cast of characters from a supernatural and real life world. It is widely considered a masterpiece of the Romantic ballet repertoire and draws inspiration from German folklore about the ghostly spirits of jilted brides.

“This was a fantastic trip for our students and I am delighted to have been able to share the experience with them,” said Paul Read, Assistant Principal at Lift Sir Herbert Leon.

“We all found the ballet so moving, and the Royal Opera House is a stunning venue. Our students behaved really well and got so much out of the trip, it was a brilliant day enjoyed by us all.”
