Milton Keynes running club launches campaign to support MK Food Bank

'Redway Runners' Running Club are being asked to support Milton Keynes Food Bank throughout February.

Redway Runners is an award-winning community running club based in Milton Keynes. After launching in 2011, the club before the Pandemic had over 3,600 paid members and currently has over 2,500 members, making it one of the largest running clubs in the UK if not the world.

During February, members of ‘Redway Runners’ are being asked to support the MK Food Bank. The club is inviting its members to bring not only their training shoes to a run but food and other items that can be used by the MK Food Bank.

With over 30 runs a week, the club hopes that there will be a 'significant amount' donated. There will also be special special events throughout the month.

To kick-start the month, the Club is donating £100 of food.

Milton Keynes Food Bank is currently experiencing its busiest period ever and has this week announced the return of its 'BIG DOORSTEP GIVE'.

For many residents who can’t get to a collection point, the MK Foodbank is providing the opportunity to donate from your doorstep.

It’s very simple to take part:

    1. Send the MK Food Bank team an email at helpline@mkfoodbank.org.uk or WhatsApp 07874 964505 with your address and postcode. They can collect from anywhere with an MK postcode but you must provide these details!
    2. The team will reply with a time slot that a volunteer collection driver will be in your area.
    3. Before your allocated slot, place your donations of long-life food (see list of most-needed items here) in a clearly visible spot on your doorstep.
