Milton Keynes Rose to hold Armistice Day Observance

Since the end of the war, Armistice Day has been commemorated on Friday 11th November, with a two-minute silence at 11.00am.

The traditional two-minute silence is held every year to mark the end of the First World War, after an agreement between Germany and the Allies took effect at the "11th hour of the 11th day of the 11th month" of 1918.

A short observance of Armistice Day will be held at the Milton Keynes Rose, Campbell Park on Friday 11 November.

All residents are welcome to attend and pay their respects.

Created by internationally renowned artist Gordon Young in 2014, the Milton Keynes Rose is an open-air circle with markings based on the mathematical beauty of a flower. It was developed in partnership by The Parks Trust and the Milton Keynes Cenotaph Trust, with support from Milton Keynes City Council.

The Milton Keynes Rose features 106 pillars that have been positioned in the shape of a flower, inscribed with dates of events that have local, national or international significance.
