Milton Keynes Road Policing officers fine speeding motorcyclist thousands

Thames Valley Police Milton Keynes has released a video of a high-speed chase on the A5 that ended with an arrest and a fine of over £5,000.

Earlier this year in April, a motorcyclist was clocked racing at a dangerous speed of 127mph on his Yamaha R1 along the A5 near Milton Keynes.

Road Policing officers from Milton Keynes swiftly attempted to stop the speeding rider, but instead of complying, he recklessly decided to evade being caught.

The rider, identified as Ricky Catchpole, 33, from Cotswold Close, Bedford, ignored the officers’ efforts and sped away at life-threatening speeds, heading back down the A5.

Weaving through narrow gaps and taking dangerous risks, Catchpole believed he had successfully shaken off the police. However, his high-speed getaway came to an abrupt end after a sharp turn led to a slow-speed crash, causing him to fall off the bike while attempting to maneuver a corner.

Officers acted quickly, apprehending Catchpole as he tried to remount his motorcycle.

The consequences of his actions were severe. Catchpole was sentenced to a 28-day disqualification from driving and slapped with a hefty fine totalling £5,275.

His attempt to evade justice serves as a reminder of the dangers of high-speed pursuits and the importance of obeying the law on the roads.
