Customers left reeling after shock news.
A popular Olney restaurant will remain closed until the weekend following the unexpected death of one of its owners this week.
Olney Pancake Parlour, on the town’s historic Market Place, have said on social media that they will remain closed until Sunday’s Remembrance Day following the shock news that Tom Bent, a co-owner, died on Monday following a suspected cardiac arrest.
Mr Bent, 35, ran the restaurant with brothers Jamie and Marc Sharp.
“Thank you to everyone for your love, support and patience over the last few days,” said the restaurant on Facebook. “Unfortunately, it is with great sadness to confirm that we lost our beloved Tom, co-owner of the parlour earlier this week suddenly.
“We’re navigating next steps but want to open to you all normally on Sunday, 9-4. Unfortunately we won’t be opening the kitchen, but you’ll be able to purchase drinks and freshly baked cakes.
“We’re aiming for business as usual from Monday, to welcome you all back! Thanks again for all well wishes and love.”
Olney’s Mayor Debbie Whitworth said the community had been left reeling from the news.
“I was shocked and saddened to hear about Tom this week,” said the Mayor. “The Pancake Parlour is a key part of Olney town and I couldn’t believe the news when I heard. My thoughts and best wishes go to everyone at the restaurant at this terrible time.”
