Milton Keynes residents reminded to admire lakes and rivers 'from a distance' this Winter

The Parks Trust has been reminding residents of the dangers of ice, frozen lakes and rivers across the city as temperatures drop.

The Parks Trust is an independent charity that cares for over 6,000 acres of parkland and green space in Milton Keynes.

Over the past few days, temperatures have dropped across the UK with snow falling across the city. In recent weeks, The Parks Trust and Willen Lake have been displaying posters across all park noticeboards to remind people of the dangers of ice, frozen lakes and rivers.

Following recent tragic national news stories, residents in Milton Keynes are being reminded to admire the city's lakes and rivers from a safe distance.

Sarah Griffiths, Outdoor Learning Manager told MKFM: “There are lots of lovely lakes and rivers in the parks of Milton Keynes but please admire them from a safe distance. Stick to the paths and avoid the water’s edge.

"Don’t go on the ice and if you see someone in distress, call 999 right away. Keep dogs on leads near the ice and if animals end up in distress, don’t enter the water after them.”
