Milton Keynes residents invited to attend Mt Kilimanjaro Challenge information evening for Willen Hospice

Willen Hospice is inviting local people to attend an information evening on Tuesday 8th November, 6 – 7.30pm at Willen Hospice to find out more about their exciting Mt Kilimanjaro challenge.

Departing to Tanzania on 25th January – 4th February 2024, trekkers will be challenged to hike for 7 days to the summit of Mt Kilimanjaro, the highest mountain in Africa. Trekkers will be taking the Lemosho Route which starts in pristine forests, before crossing the Shira plateau and up to the peak of this iconic mountain.

The trip is being organised by Action Challenge who are experts in this type of bucket list adventure. They offer private camp areas, training guides, kits lists, visa support, acclimatisation features, plus hotels and flights are included, but participants have the choice to stay on for a beach break or safari after their incredible achievement.

Dawn Clark, Challenges Fundraiser said, “This really is one of those once-in-a-lifetime moments, and we are pleased to be bringing this incredible opportunity to the people of Milton Keynes.

"Not only will it be one of the best experience of your life, but the money raised will make an incredible difference for those face a life-limiting illnesses, as well as their families and friends.

“We encourage anyone interested to come along to our information evening to find out more. It is no-obligation and free to attend. The reason why we start so early is to give everyone taking part more than enough time to train and fundraise, so the sooner you sign up the easier this challenge will be.”

The information evening takes place on Tuesday 8th November, 6 – 7.30pm in the new Willen Hospice café: Willen Hospice, Milton Road, Willen Village, Milton Keynes, MK15 9AB. Find out more here or email challenges@willen-hospice.org.uk

Willen Hospice is the only adult Hospice in Milton Keynes. The charity needs to raise £5.9 million every year, that’s £11 a minute to continue providing their specialist services, free of charge, to local people who need it.
