Newport Pagnell residents angry at 'chaos causing' roadworks.
Disgruntled residents in Newport Pagnell are fed up with traffic queues due to ongoing road works, which is making getting in and out of the town difficult, and adding time to daily travel.
“It's ridiculous,” one resident told us, “It's a total mess and has been going on for far too long.”
The roundabout on the Willen Road/H3 Monks Way has been taken out, and residents say they are being kept in the dark as work continues.
“There is no indication as to whether the roundabout will be reinstated, or whether traffic lights will be introduced, and no confirmation of when the work will be completed. It is already well overdue.”
Martin O'Hara took to social media to voice his unhappiness: 'Traffic chaos again on the Newport Pagnell bypass, all the way back to Great Linford. I mean they are only re-building a roundabout, in Milton Keynes!” he said.
Milton Keynes City Council said that work will soon be complete, which will be to the relief of commuters and residents.
"Our highways team have been working closely with Winvic, the developer responsible for the closure at Marsh End Roundabout/ Willen Road,” a Milton Keynes City Council spokesperson told MKFM.
"We've been keeping the town council, emergency services and councillors regularly updated about these works including the scope of the works, any changes to the traffic management and even to make adjustments to help prevent speeding vehicles through the site".
"The Marsh End Roundabout/ Willen Road approved permit for works on the public highway ends on 4 August 2025 and the 'left in, left out' part of the traffic management to be removed.
“The roundabout will eventually return to a similar layout as the original with the addition of traffic signals. Traffic signals help to regulate the traffic flow at this busy intersection which will help the network to cope with future traffic levels".
"The A509 development site permit is approved up to and including 31 August 2025".
