Milton Keynes railway line safety manager honoured

Portrait forms part of 200 year anniversary of the modern railway.

A Network Rail employee, who works on the line that serves Milton Keynes Central, has been honoured for the care and commitment he shows train passengers.

Manny Kang, a community safety manager on the Central route, which connects London to Milton Keynes and the West Midlands, was captured on canvas because of the dedication he brings to his role. His striking portrait was unveiled at London Euston station yesterday.

It forms part of the ‘Partner Zone’ coach of the Railway 200 exhibition train named Inspiration – celebrating the 200th anniversary of the modern railway. Inspiration will visit several locations on Britain’s rail network to attract the next generation to consider a career in rail.

Community safety managers like Manny, play a vital role helping to deliver a safe and reliable railway. This includes going to local schools, supporting the public to understand the dangers of trespassing on the railway, keeping them safe and keeping trains on the move.

“I’m incredibly proud to be a part of this project,” said Manny. “Community safety managers work hard behind the scenes helping to keep the public safe and trains running on time. I hope the portrait helps to inspire others to consider a career in rail, as it can open so many opportunities.”
