Milton Keynes pub appeals for community support after roadworks leave trade 'worryingly quiet'

Little Brickhill pub The George is appealing to the community for support after six weeks of major roadworks on the A5 between Milton Keynes and Hockliffe have left it struggling to recover.

During the extended road closures, access to Little Brickhill was significantly disrupted, leading to a sharp drop in visitors.

The bridge and slip road have now reopened, but the team at The George say the pub remains worryingly quiet.

“It feels like we’ve been forgotten,” said landlady Louise, "We understand that roadworks are necessary, but the impact on small, independent businesses like ours has been devastating. Even though the roads are open again, people don’t seem to realise we’re here and ready to welcome them back.”

The family-run, fully independent pub and restaurant is known for its warm hospitality, freshly prepared food, and cosy atmosphere.

The pub also boasts a large function room, perfect for hosting events, private parties, and community gatherings.

“We’re asking our community to help keep this village pub alive,” adds Louise. “Even popping in for a coffee, lunch, or a quick drink really makes a difference. Every bit of support helps us keep our doors open for the village we love.”
