Milton Keynes property gets closure order

Neighbours complained of alcohol and drug related activity.

A property in Milton Keynes has had a closure order slapped on it today by police following a multitude of complaints from neighbours.

MK’s South Neighbourhood Policing team successfully obtained a closure order on an address in Bel Air Grove, Glebe Farm, following the long list of complaints, which centred around people visiting the address at all hours of the day, committing alcohol and drug related Anti-Social Behaviour.

“This behaviour has had a detrimental effect on the quality of life of those in the local vicinity,” said a police spokesperson.

Under the Anti-Social Behaviour, Crime and Policing Act 2014, a closure order gives police the legal power to restrict access to a property to prevent ongoing nuisance and disorder.

“This order now makes it a criminal offence for anyone other than the named residents to be inside the address for the next three months,” said the spokesperson. “If you're not the named occupant and you are found inside you will be liable for prosecution and will be arrested.

“If you witness any breaches or ongoing ASB, please report it to us via 101 or online.”
