Milton Keynes Olympian wins prestigious competition

Milton Keynes-based Olympian and founder of children’s health brand Nutri Troops, Peter Bakare, has won the Alibaba.com CoCreate Pitch Final in London.

The prestigious competition showcased some of Europe’s most innovative athlete-founded ventures as part of the Athlete365 Business Accelerator, an International Olympic Committee programme supporting athletes in developing purpose-driven businesses.

“Winning the CoCreate Pitch Final truly means a lot to me,” said Peter, “I’m incredibly grateful to the judges, the Athlete365 team, and everyone who believes in what we’re building with Nutri Troops. This isn’t just a business - it’s a mission to inspire the next generation to live healthy, active and imaginative lives.”

One in three children in the UK are living with obesity, and fewer than half are active for the recommended 60 minutes per day. Many children regularly consume high levels of sugar, salt and unhealthy fats, and much of their daily environment reinforces habits that work against their long-term wellbeing.

Nutri Troops was created by Peter to tackle this crisis in a way children genuinely respond to: through story, adventure and play.

More than 17,000 children across 200 schools and clubs in Milton Keynes and the North East have already taken part in Nutri Troops programmes, with teachers reporting improved engagement, teamwork, confidence and understanding of nutrition and health topics.

“I can’t wait to visit even more primary schools across Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas with the Nutri Troops Academy. Every time I step into a school hall and see children light up as they enter the world of Nutria, it reminds me why we do this,” he said.

“Teaching children through the magic of adventure - through stories, play and teamwork - is where the real impact happens. I’m excited to bring even more young heroes into the Nutri Troops journey.”
