The clock was turned back to the 1940s at Milton Keynes Museum over the weekend, with two days of re-enactments, exhibits, and fun for all ages.
The annual family-friendly event was an opportunity to learn more about wartime, but also to understand about rationing, to shop for retro fashion, and to get hands-on with games from the era.
With live music from Lola Lamour and Johnny Victory, plenty of sing-a-longs could be heard, and people showed off their fancy footwork on the dancefloor, while 'Nippy' waitresses served tea and cake.
Bad weather meant that the planned Lancaster flypast was cancelled, but that didn't dampen the spirits of the many visitors.
“We were thrilled with such wonderful feedback from many of the people who joined us,” said Bill Griffiths, director of Milton Keynes Museum, “The 1940s event has long been a popular part of our annual calendar, and the plan moving forward is to develop it further, and to highlight more of the local stories, as we do with all of the Museum offerings.
“We are already looking to 2026!” he added.
