Milton Keynes MPs meet with micromobility company Ginger to discuss local e-scooter trials

Ben Everitt and Iain Stewart, the MP for Milton Keynes North/South respectively, have recently met with micromobility company Ginger to discuss the progress of their e-scooter trials in Milton Keynes.

After some constituents raised concerns with local MPs over the parking of e-scooters on the streets of Milton Keynes, they were keen to meet with Ginger who are trialling the use of specific parking bays.

This means Ginger scooters can only be parked in certain areas such as at Milton Keynes Central train station where the two MPs met CEO Paul Hodgins.

Ben Everitt commented on the local e-scooter trials so far as he said: "The trials of e-scooters here in Milton Keynes are really exciting and I'm delighted to have been able to meet all three operators; Lime, Spin and Ginger, over the last few months to hear about the successes.

"We are currently in a trial stage, so it was important for me to raise some of my constituents concerns over parking and to see how the different operators work.

"I was also really encouraged to hear how Ginger deal with the misuse of e-scooters to ensure they are as safe as possible.

"The future is exciting for Milton Keynes, with e-scooters, delivery robots and so much more I truly believe MK can become the Silicon Valley of Europe."

Milton Keynes Council recently started their e-scooter trials, which saw them partner with transport companies Lime, Spin and Ginger for up to 12 months.

To rent an e-scooter, you must be over the age of 16 and possess at least a provisional driving licence. E-scooters in Milton Keynes can be booked through the app of the relevant operators - for a small fee.
