After six months of punishing training, two men from Milton Keynes pushed off on a mammoth charity session on Saturday – taking part in the British Heart Foundation's London to Brighton Off Road Bike Ride.
Sheridan Cross and Kevin Hinson have been regularly clocking up the miles around MKs parkland in preparation for the epic challenge.
“We've been doing an average of 25 miles a day, three or four times a week,” Kevin told MKFM, “You need to make sure you are physically fit – it's certainly not the easiest of challenges, but it is a great one, and reaching the finish line and getting that medal made all the hard work worth it.
“There were around 2000 competitors and the community feeling was great.”
While Kevin has competed previously, it was Sheridan's first time taking part in the 61 mile ride, which saw participants start from Walton-on-Thames, and travel to Hove in Sussex.
After successfully tackling the tough terrain - including dirt, gravel, roots, sand and stones - in just under six hours, they have already made a pact to enter the race in 2026.
“After so much preparation over many months, it was fantastic to finally complete the route,” Sheridan said, “It's such a great charity, doing brilliant work and we are pleased that the money we have raised will go to make a difference where it counts.”
