
Council head to make keynote address.
The new Mayor of Milton Keynes, James Lancaster, will be one of the guest speakers at this week’s Meet of MK business gathering, hosted by MKFM.
Councillor Lancaster will describe his first five weeks as First Citizen of Milton Keynes and set out some of his plans and hopes for this year and 2026, when he is in office. At 31, James is the youngest mayor to serve the city.
The Yorkshireman came to Milton Keynes in 2016 aged 22 looking for a new start. He certainly found that in local politics, representing the Tattenhoe Ward since 2019 and serving on several committees, including the Licensing Committee, about which James is very passionate.
He has been Vice-Chair of the Licensing Committee and also sat on the Planning Committee since starting his role as a councillor. James has also been a member of Shenley Brook End & Tattenhoe Parish Council since 2019 and has been Chair of the Community Committee and Facilities Committee.
A strong advocate of sport and leisure, the Mayor says his theme this year will be focused on this, in memory of his father who was a Leisure and Cultural Services Manager.
The Mayor’s Charity for the year is Camphill MK, a charity committed to supporting adults aged 18 years and over who have special needs, within Milton Keynes and the surrounding areas.
“I have always been a huge fan of the Meet of MK Event,” said the Mayor. “It is an honour to have MKFM assist with recognising me in my year as Mayor.
“My plan is to work closely with many individuals to get the best out of what the city of Milton Keynes has to offer. MK is a diverse, collaborative, innovative and successful city, and I will continue to highlight and showcase its benefits.”
