Milton Keynes man, 77, pleads guilty to manslaughter

Following a Thames Valley Police investigation, a man has been convicted of manslaughter in Milton Keynes.

Michael Sargeant, aged 77, of Bradwell Road, Loughton, Milton Keynes, pleaded guilty yesterday (17/8) at Luton Crown Court to a count of manslaughter by diminished responsibility, which was accepted by the prosecution.

The conviction relates to the death of Christine Sargeant, who died aged 73.

At around 8am on Saturday 20 May, officers were called to an incident in Bradwell Road, Loughton.

When officers arrived they found Christine Sargeant unconscious.

She was given emergency first aid at the scene before being taken to hospital, where she later sadly passed away.

Michael Sargeant was arrested at the scene and was charged two days later on 22 May.

A Home Office post-mortem examination later established the cause of death to be a neck compression.

Michael Sargeant will be sentenced on 20 September at Luton Crown Court.

Our thoughts remain with the family at this difficult time and they have requested privacy at this difficult time.
