Milton Keynes learning disability charity announce new Chair

    Former Diver and Chair of British Diving, Melanie Beck MBE has been announced as the new Chair of leading disability charity, MK SNAP.

    Melanie, who received an MBE for her voluntary services during the COVID-19 crisis says, “I feel extremely honoured and excited, MK SNAP is a charity I have long admired and followed. It provides a superb supportive environment for the learners to thrive. For any visitor it is an uplifting experience to visit."

    Melanie is CEO at MyMiltonKeynes, Business Improvement District and was formerly the Head of Marketing and Communications at centre:mk.

    Melanie is a trustee of Sports Aid and Chair of British Diving and British High Diving.

    She represents Europe on the World Aquatics Governing body (FINA) and was Chair of the Performance Management of British Diving since 2005

    MK SNAP's CEO, Angela Novell adds, “We are delighted to welcome Melanie to the board during this time of great change and look forward to utilising her teamwork, drive and energy to deliver on the ambitions we have to transform the lives of local people with disabilities.’

    MK SNAP is an award-winning local charity offering professional support, training, education, life skills, work and opportunities for individuals aged 18+ with learning difficulties. Their learners are from Milton Keynes and the surrounding local authorities. They include adults recovering from stroke or head injury, those with visual or mobility impairment, and those with learning disabilities, such as those on the autistic spectrum.

    Melanie takes over following the retirement of Liz Gifford as Chair after 6 years in the role.
