Milton Keynes Labour: Boris Johnson should 'go back to Parliament' and let MPs debate his deal

The two Milton Keynes Labour parliamentary candidates for Milton Keynes have released a statement following Prime Minister Boris Johnson's visit to the city today.

MKFM reported that Mr Johnson visited Milton Keynes Hospital and Middleton Primary School earlier today.

Responding to the visit, Labour candidates for Milton Keynes Charlynne Pullen and Hannah O'Neill said: "Boris Johnson claimed he would 'do or die' for Brexit, and yet doesn't seem to want anyone to have time to scrutinise his withdrawal agreement."

"His actions, since he became Prime Minister, mean he can't get his own deal through by the 31st October and was forced to ask for an extension to avoid a catastrophic no deal Brexit."

"Boris has come to campaign for the two Tory MPs in Milton Keynes, both of whom have consistently voted for the UK to crash out of the EU without a deal, because he needs his yes men back in parliament after a general election."

"But we've been out talking to the residents of MK, who are afraid of the consequences of a no deal Brexit that puts their jobs at risk. We've listened to residents in MK talk about having to live on zero hours contracts, go to the foodbank and community fridges, who are struggling to keep a roof over their heads."

"With the cost of living going up, our Tory MPs have voted to cut funding for our schools, our hospital, our police, our council, and have failed to fight for MK to have the infrastructure we need as we grow. Only Labour MPs in MK will stop a no deal Brexit, will deliver proper funding of our public services, and will fight for a better deal at work for the many."

"Current Labour MPs have offered to sit all weekend to go through his withdrawal bill. We urge Boris to go back to parliament and let MPs thoroughly scrutinise, amend, and vote on his deal."
